How Businesses Worked in GTA Online
A clean reference for how the GTA Online business stack actually works, used as the historical baseline for GTA 6 predictions.
This article documents how GTA Online businesses actually work, not how they might evolve. It serves as the baseline reference for predicting GTA 6.
Setup and unlock requirements
Most GTA Online businesses unlock through purchasing a parent property (Bunker, MC Clubhouse, CEO Office, Agency) and then a specialised facility within it. Each tier costs significantly more than the previous and unlocks new business types.
Supply, production, and sale loop
- Supply: either bought directly (faster, more expensive) or stolen via supply missions.
- Production: occurs in real time while the player is in session.
- Sale: triggered manually; sale missions vary by vehicle, distance, and difficulty.
- Raid risk: businesses can be raided if neglected, requiring active defence.
Stacking businesses for compound income
Veteran players run multiple businesses in parallel. The Nightclub doubles as a passive collector for other businesses, creating the dominant late-game stack: Acid Lab + Nightclub + selected MC business.
Frequently asked questions
Can businesses be operated solo?
Yes. Sale missions are easier in groups but achievable solo with smaller vehicles.
Do businesses produce income offline?
Production pauses when the player is not in session. Some passive collectors (Nightclub) continue accruing during the session.
